Powerful and reliable performance features

The hybrid system that powers the 2021 Sienna consists of a gasoline engine, electric motors, and a traction battery. All together, these parts produce a net hybrid system horsepower of 245 hp. The gasoline engine equipped in this system is a 2.5-liter Double Overhead Cam 16-valve with D-4S Injection and Dual VVT-i. The traction battery used is a sealed nickel-metal hydride battery. Front-wheel drive models come with two Permanent Magnet Synchronous motors in the front, while all-wheel drive models come with three motors with two placed in the front and one in the rear.

This hybrid system is paired with an Electronically Continuously Variable Transmission with sequential shift mode. Depending on which trim level you choose, the Sienna is equipped with either a front-wheel drive system or Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive system. The 2021 Sienna also comes with Normal, ECO, EV, and Sport drive modes.
