For two decades, the Toyota Prius has provided excellent hybrid performance to drivers. To commemorate 20 years, the 2021 Toyota Prius model has a special Prius 2020 Edition with only 2,020 models built. This special edition comes with black 17-inch wheels, black exterior trim, and the choice between Supersonic Red or Wind Chill Pearl for exterior paint color. Additionally, pedestrian-and-bicyclist detection and automatic high beam headlamps are now standard on all trim levels for 2021.
When you step into the 2021 Prius you’ll enjoy several innovative technology features that provide entertainment, information, and more. The long list of features includes a color Head-Up Display, three USB ports, Qi-compatible wireless charging pad, and Toyota Safety Sense® 2.0. The Toyota Safety Sense® 2.0 suite comes with several advanced driver-assist features including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Automatic High Beams.
The 121-horsepower hybrid system in the 2021 Prius consists of an engine, an electric motor, and a traction battery. The engine is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that produces up to 96 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque. The permanent magnet AC synchronous motor has a power output of 71 hp, a torque of 120 lb-ft, and a maximum voltage of 600V. Finally, the Prius comes with either a 201.6V sealed nickel-metal hydride traction battery or a 207.2V lithium-ion battery. This system is then paired with an Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission.
In addition to providing reliable hybrid performance, this mid-size car also provides a decent amount of cargo space. The 60/40 fold-down rear seats help increase the cargo space up to 50.7 cubic feet. The Smart Key System with Push Button Start allows you to get into your Prius and start the engine without having to take the key out of your pocket or purse. The available SofTex®-trimmed heated front seats will also provide extra comfort for you and your front seat passenger.
